Agriculture went educational in Dodge City, Kansas, with Asgrow® and DEKALB® hosting an agAcademy seminar this April. The event, which was the first of several agAcademies that will take place this spring and summer, catered to growers with the latest agronomic insights, news of the latest efficiency equipment, information on cutting-edge products, systems management techniques.

The Dodge City agAcademy invited industry leaders to come and talk about their area of expertise.  Mark Reiman kicked off the morning by lecturing on local research efforts to solve local problems. Reiman informed the area growers of research taking place to shed more light on region specific issues, such as weed resistance, hybrid selection and water management. In addition, Jeff Tichota gave growers the latest information on Genuity® DroughtGard™ Hybrids. Water availability is limited for much of Kansas, and Tichota explained to the attendees the important benefits to come through DroughtGard™ Hybrid selection. Tichota was followed by Brian Olson’s segment over the Roundup Ready® Xtend™ Crop System and Sprayer Application Technology. Olson explained how the system is intended to provide farmers with more consistent, flexible control of weeds, especially tough-to-manage and glyphosate-resistant weeds, and to help maximize crop yield potential. Olson also guided the local farmers through the safest and most efficient spray application systems and procedures.

The agAcademy then resumed with Chris Hartter’s presentation about Precision Planting®, their new products and some spring preparation tips. Hartter described the efficiency and yield maximizing potentials that Precision Planting® can offer any grower. Dale Sorensen closed out the speakers, providing the local growers with the latest and greatest on Integrated Farming Systems℠ (IFS). Sorensen informed the group that IFS is dedicated to getting more from every acre by integrating expertise in seed science, field science, data analysis and precision equipment to develop solutions optimized for the conditions of a farmer’s field.
