Corn Rootworm Update - Northern Corn Belt

Northern corn rootworm eggs are able to withstand colder temperatures than Western corn rootworm eggs. Extended diapause allows Northern corn rootworm eggs to remain dormant for one or more growing seasons. Determining how much root feeding can occur before there is yield loss is difficult because research has shown that correlating yield loss to root feeding is highly variable.
