Magen Eller joined Monsanto Co. in Lebanon, IN as a commercial corn breeder in 2009. Since 2013 she has filled the role of Operations Lead for the 110 Relative Maturity (RM) Zone. She received her B.S. in Crop Science from the University of Illinois and her Ph.D. in Crop Science-Plant Breeding with a Plant Pathology minor from North Carolina State University. There, she studied breeding methods for increasing resistance to fungi that cause ear and kernel rots in corn under Drs. Jim Holland and Gary Payne. Prior to joining Monsanto, Magen worked as a member of the Plant Science Research Unit for the USDA-ARS in Raleigh, NC. In addition to plant breeding, Magen enjoys gardening, running, stained glass artistry, and refinishing old “stuff” including the house she shares with her husband.
